Mixed Feelings- Love Hate Relationship with Mathematics

I thought I would be bored for all the lectures during this module. MATHEMATICS!!! It has never been my favourite. I thought it would not be my favourite. The thought of attending Math lessons can trigger my tummy to be upset, painful, whirling... You name it, i'll have it. However, this strong feeling which I used to have, seemed to be wavering.

I could not deny the fact that I have been enjoying myself for the past two lectures. They were simply FUN!!! It changed my mind of my initial idea of Math. I had sense of satisfaction when I managed to accomplish a task. I felt motivated when I almost close to achieve the correct answer. After all, Dr Yeap said it is not about getting the answer but the process of getting the answers.

There are some taboos which I have learnt (sadly, which I did when I was young)
  • Never tell children "you must always do this"
  • No memorizing or regurgitating
My Ideas of Mathematics:
  • Develop thinking skills/ problem solving skills
  • Reasoning
  • Communicating Ideas
  • Making Connections
  • Looking for Patterns
  • Generalizing
  • Justifying
  • Dealing with Information
  • Visulization
  • Developing Number Sense
